Botanical Gardens

Yesterday I spent the morning in the Botanical Gardens in Berlin.

Apart from the fact I missed the blooming season of my favourite flowers (Peonies) by a few weeks, it was absolutely lovely.

The Hydrangeas were still blooming and a variety of beautiful Lilies and Dahlias were modelling their fantastic vibrant colours for mr to photograph.

A tip for photographing flowers and getting interesting results:

Bring a water spray can or a spray bottle with plain tap water, and spray on the flowers you want to photograph to create small water drops.

You can also spray behind the flowers you want to photograph, if it's a sunny day, the drops will reflect the light and create beautiful bokeh in the background of your photo.

I'm wearing a thrifed vintage dress, and a mustard Topshop jacket from a charity shop in London, the belt that ended up getting ruined and thrown away right after the photos were taken.

Another photography tip is try to avoid high noon, I somehow never find myself outside in the 'right' time to take photos, which is why I my self portraits always have harsh shadows and are a nightmare to work on.
