Frequently Zoo

Last year, the company I work for doing my boring day job provided it's employees with a pre-charged credit card for Christmas with 300 EUR on it. There were many restrictions as to which items could be purchased with said card, which is why the majority of the people I talked to, weren't too happy (everyone kept talking about how on previous years the gifts were better) about it.

My husband and I have this little tradition of what we call our "Sunday Adventure". On Sunday's were both of us are off work, we'll do something special. Because my contract involves working at least one weekend per month (I'll normally be scheduled for two), our adventures are spread in a way that makes them feels special every time.

We visited villages and small towns around Berlin, went to a variety of gardens, parks, lakes and any other interesting bits of the city.

A little after the above mentioned card arrived, our Sunday adventure was spent visiting the Berlin Zoo.

While Adrian was showing great restraint (because he has some), I was running around frantically pointing at baby kangaroos and penguins, squealing in a high pitch I didn't even know I could produce, calling out things like "Oh my god, look at it! look at that tiny awesome little amazing animal! Ah! It's so cute!"
Yes, people were staring.
No, it wasn't my first time at the Zoo, or the first time seeing exotic animals. It's just me. I'm a delight in public.

That day, I gladly spent my Christmas gift on a yearly entrance card to The Berlin Zoo, The Berlin Tierpark and the Berlin Aquarium for both Adrian and I. Animals are extremely relaxing, wandering around the zoo is a great workout because every time I go it's about 3-6 hours of walking - and the best bit, I get to take an many photographs as I'd like.

I still embarrass myself by behaving pretty much like "double rainbow guy" every time I see an animal doing something cute (which is their default, btw). I don't know if it would ever stop, at least I'm getting very nice photographs in the process.  So this post is actually starting my first "series" within the blog - documenting my frequent zoo visits.

Additional point:
After noticing that my American and British friends type their laughter differently, I posted a status on Facebook that got quite a few of my friends commenting their thoughts on the subject, until one found this useful link. So if you ever wondered how other language speakers express the English "Haha" it's an interesting read.
